A research conducted by Arnoldshows that motivation can be defined by various questions in a workplace: What is theperson trying to do (direction), how hard is the person trying to do(effort) and how longdoes the person keeps on trying(persistence)? If money is the key motivator of workthen it must answer the three questions. Most people at workplaces prefer money asthe biggest motivator as it's a requirement for a living. It's also emphasized by Moscow'sHierarchy Theory, Victor Expectancy Theory and Equity Theory. On the contrary, peoplehave different perspectives on workforces in which other will argue that money is not theonly motivator in work. Other factors like standard salary, fringe benefits, recognition,responsibility and autonomy, work environment and loyalty can also be a motivation forsome workers in different workplaces. Thus motivating workers under all perspectives isof extreme significance in a business exertion and a competitive edge.First of all, people need money for a living. Some research shows that a highsalary can really provoke the worker's performance as people depend on money (Groen2016). People require money to live.
