It will be argued in this essay that logic is pivotal in the study of cognition. Cognition, broadly speaking, is how minds operate. It is ‘the mental action or process of acquiring knowledge through thought, experience, and senses’. 2 Therefore, a major step in understanding cognition comes from our ability to model knowledge bases (i.e. acquired knowledge) using the scientific field of logic. A knowledge base is a collection of statements given as true (false statements are modified by a ‘~’ symbol). They may be constructed using ‘atoms’ (a single value, true or false)

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
