During this lab, performance characteristics of positive displacementand non-positive displacement pumps were analyzed. This lab also emphasizes the maindifferences between positive and negative displacement pumps.Procedure:The lab began with Mayank providing a brief overview of the lab by showing a video aboutpositive and non-positive displacement pumps. Students then went through each exercise bymeasuring the dimensions of the different types of pumps. CIR and GPM were then calculatedand related questions were answered.Conclusions/Recommendations:Learning the functions and difference between positive and non-positive displacement pumps iscritical to understanding the field of fluid power. Applying concepts learned in class tomeasuring and calculating the flow rates greatly helped students learn the concepts.
