Mission and Purpose of the OrganizationUnited Way Worldwide is an international leadership and support entity accounting more than 1800 communities based in United Ways. The communities are in 45 countries and territories. It was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1887 with its mission to improve lives by assembling communities all over the world towards a common goal. The aim is to promote their living styles for the common good. The purpose of the organization is to foster essential public products and ensure that individuals gain public trust and assume responsibilities to serve the citizens effectively especially leaders. The core values depend on the actions and decisions.
Difference between Private and Government Not-for-profit OrganizationNon-for-profit organizations are normally government organizations also known as the non-business entity. They target at advocating a given social problem without expecting back any profits (Ciconte & Jacob 2009). Further, this kind of organizations does not pay taxes on the charity or income donated to them. In contrast, private organizations are corporations, associations, agencies or individuals who are not public bodies. They operate based on profits, and hence their services and goods have an aim of maximizing profits.
Primary Sources of Funding the OrganizationsMost not-for-profit organizations get their income from a range of sources that are independent in their way. In this case, United Way Worldwide acquire their income from gifts, donations, trading, loan financing, equity capital, and grants (Knowhow Nonprofit, 2017).
