The teachings he wrote are known as “The Maxims of Ptahhotep.” The book, which was the first book ever written, will be the main topic of this summary. This paper isto summarize the meaning behind some of his teachings and the moral guidelines he helped bring to Ancient Egypt four-thousand years ago. As this book was written a while ago, there are some teachings that are written specifically to that time, that don’t exactly relate to all of us. Ptah tries to reach out to most of themen, so he can build a society in Egypt where everyone is living a morally correct lifestyle. He writes that “If you are a farmer, gather the crops in the field which the great Ptah has given you, do not boast in the house of your neighbors” (Ptah). This message could be received by people that aren’t exactly farmers, but by basically anyone with a job. All he is trying to proclaim is that,
