Unformatted text preview: Introduction to Macroeconomics ECO 304L Midterm 1, July 21st, 2006 Name: UTEID: Directions You will get 4 bonus points to clearly fill out your name and UTEID both on this cover sheet as well as the scantron (Be sure to bubble it in).This booklet has 8 pages including this cover sheet. Please check the booklet to make sure you have all the pages. If you dont, raise your hand and Ill replace it. This test has 20 multiple choice questions(worth 40 points) and 4 free response questions (worth 40 points). The test is open book and open notes. You may use any type of calculator you wish. You have 75 minutes to finish the test. Before time is up, I will announce how much time you have left (typically one announcement with 5 to go and another in the last 2 minutes). When I say you have 2 minutes, I mean you have 2 minutes to actually hand in your test . When time is up, Ill leave. If you manage to catch me with your late exam, you will have 15% taken off. If you fail to catch me, you get zero. The point of this ridiculous threat is to make sure the room is cleared in time for the next class. I have done it before, try it if you dont believe me, its a lot of fun!! : Some test taking tips: Contrary to what you may think, most people finish faster when they start with the free response, not the multiple choice questions. For the free response part, mostly I want logical answers. If you write some- thing that basically makes sense, youll get most of the credit, even if your final answer is wrong. ALL answers are supposed to be short. Lengthy incorrect answers get the same zeros short ones do....
