NSG RSRCH W5 DiscussionReview the following research questions.1.Is the use of soap & water or alcohol-based rubs more effective in preventing nosocomial infections?2.How effective are anti-depressive medications on anxiety & depression?3.For patients of 70 years & older, how effective is the use of the influenza vaccine at preventing flu as compared to patients who have not received the vaccine?4.What is the relationship between alcohol & breast cancer?5.What is the difference between self-efficacy scores in older adults who exercise & the scores of those who do not?6.What is the difference in attitudes of male & female college students toward condoms?Next, select 3 of the above questions & address the following:Identify an appropriate research design.Discuss the strengths & weaknesses of the design.Provide a rationale for the design you selectedIs the use of soap and water or alcohol-based rubs more effective in preventing nosocomial infections?Following review of the given topic, descriptive observational design seems most appropriate, as to identify faults within current practice. The strengths of the descriptive design are variables are not altered, bias is eliminated through conceptual and operational defining variables and the overall conclusion is established with the relationship among variables (Gray, Grove, & Sutherland, 2017). Weaknesses of this design are no treatment or interventions are utilized and no causality is established (Gray, et al. 2017). Descriptive design is appropriate when current practice is not sufficiently alleviating the problem. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) have long reported the significance of proper hand hygiene by medical staff as a prerequisite for the control and prevention of nosocomial infections (Trampuz & Widmer, 2004). Hands are the most common mode of transmission for organisms. Health care-associated infections (HAI) constitute one of the greatest challenges in the healthcare system. Despite evidence that proper hand washing can reduce the transmission of pathogens to patients and the spread of antimicrobial resistance, the adherence of health care workers to recommended hand-hygiene practices has remained unacceptably low (Trampuz & Widner, 2004). An alcohol-based hand rub requires less time, is microbiologically more effective, and is less irritating to skin than traditional hand washing with soap and water (Trampuz & Widner, 2004). CDC (2017) recommends hand-washing as the most effective method to reduce HAI and the utilization of alcohol based hand sanitizers when soap and water are not available. In addition, CDC (2017) suggests that hand sanitizers have at least 60 percent alcohol and while they reduce some microbes not all types are eliminated. What is the relationship between alcohol and breast cancer?1
NSG RSRCH W5 DiscussionLongitudinal design is the most appropriate because it examines changes in the same subject over a period (Gray, et al. 2017). The longitudinal design variables, area of study and
