How do information systems serve different management group in a business and how do systems that link the enterprise improve organizational performance? Define Business Intelligence Systems Business Intelligence Systems - Technologies and Applications used for collecting information for analysis and presentation. The tools help in organizing, analyzing, and providing access to data to serve employees on making decisions. Transaction Processing Systems - Used for record keeping of operational data from everyday operations like sales orders, payroll, record keeping, and shipping. All of the data stored can be used directly by managers. TPS keeps the most current information, and are also producers of information for other business functions and systems. Management Information Systems - Serve middle management with reports about the current performance of the organization on a periodic basis. They are usually used to help managers direct, plan, and coordinate decision making. Decision Support System - Uses internal and external information to analyze business problems and decision management are faced with. It is usually used to solve uncommon problems for a business. Executive Support Systems - Used by senior management to look at long - term goals and make decisions inside and outside of the business. There is generally no standard procedure so they are used for problems that require additional analysis. They also use external information and internal data from MIS and DSS. Explain how enterprise applications improve organizational performance. It Integrates multiple functions and processes of a business into a single software system. These systems help keep data up to date, which can help in developing and decision making like decreasing costs and improving business decisions. Sectors of the business like manufacturing, HR, production, finance, and management can coordinate to make decisions. Define enterprise systems, supply chain management systems, customer relationship management system, and knowledge management systems and describe their business benefits. Enterprise systems - merge internal business processes into one single software to improve costs, regulation, coordination and decision making. Supply chain management - manage business relationships with the suppliers to help with planning, building supply levels, and delivering of products. Customer relationship management - coordinate customer processes like different interactions to help with customer satisfaction and retention. This helps by increasing sales and
profitability by keeping customers into to attract customers. Knowledge Management - Support the storage of firms knowledge, helps to manage practices and store knowledge to better serve the business.
