Nguyen 1Vivian NguyenFiona PerezEnglish 99August 29, 2018The American DreamA mindset is the view a person adopts. Both mindsets shape our lives. For example, thegrowth mindset, or whether, the fixed mindset. The most basic beliefs we carry about ourselves, has to do with how we view and inhabit what we consider to be our personality. Either we canprevent change from happening or allow new skills to blossom. Carol Dweck in her article“Brainology,” analyzes about transforming student’s motivation to learn. She describes asstudents worry how much intelligence they posse is fixed; whereas students believe that potentialintelligence can be learned. As valiant as Dweck’s attempt of her mindset theory, it depends ontheir abilities and characteristics. In the college prep, the quality called “intelligence” rarely is amajor fact in college success. Much more important are skills. Therefore; I am convinced thatDweck’s ideas can apply to adult learns, even to community-college students.
