Olivia Mata September 5, 2018 MARK 3300-03 MW-10:50 Marketing Myopia Marketing myopia is when a business focuses too much on selling a certain product rather than their focal point being on what the customer wants and needs, in order to keep the business growing. The four conditions that are associated with creating a myopia is: 1. The idea that the increase in population will help an industry grow and making profit. 2. The idea that there is no one else competing with the industry’s products. 3. Companies excessively believe in mass production and in the benefit of quickly decreasing unit costs as the amount of developing a product rises. 4. Focusing on one product to be improved, yet can be sold for a low price. I believe the concept of marketing myopia does not apply in todays generation because companies now allow customers to customize the certain product the company is trying to sell. Businesses are going to do what they think is best for the company and for their customers. With new technology, they can still generate profit and provide customer wants and needs. The concept of
