Morgaine Kmen AP Language Co. Composition Block A 2/12/18 1964 Martin Luther King SpeechThroughout history, there have been social issues that have risen time and time again. With each issue, there are always opinions and sides. With each side, there are different groups of people: those who choose to remain a neutral bystander, and those who choose to take action and to stand up for the things that they believe in. One of the people that chose the latter of the options, to stand up for the things that he believed in, was Dr. Martin Luther King Junior. Dr. King went down in history for his advocacy against segregation. One of the ways that he stood up for his cause was by speaking about the issues. In 1964, Martin Luther King Junior travelled to London, England, to give a speech supporting his cause. Like any good advocate, Dr. King used various methods to present and argue his case. In London, he broke his speech up into several key sections; he incorporated history, improvement, and issues and morality to advocate for his cause. During the first fraction of his speech, he used different examples from over the course of history to contradict the oginional argument for segregation. Dr. Martin Luther King Junior described how over time, people have used the Bible as a justification for slavery and segregation. He states that “There were those who even misused the Bible and religion to give some justification for slavery and to crystallize the patterns of the status quo.” He then goes on to
