Allison Hansen ATTR 300 I. Introduction : Inversion Ankle sprain on a basketball player II. Background on ankle sprains: A. Inversion ankle sprains are the most common ankle sprains B. Occurs when your ankle rotates inward too much and stretches the ligaments C. Aproxamily 70-85% of ankle sprains are inversion ankle sprains III. Athlete information : A. Athlete was playing basketball in a game and came down from getting a rebound and he came down on another players foot and his ankle rolled in (he said his ankle touched the floor) B. He was in a great deal of pain he fell to the ground C. Had swelling immediately D. Has no history of weak ankles E. Very healthy and strong bones IV. Other info: A. The trainers were very cautious with some examination of his ankle before they did any test B. They then took his ankle and stretched the several different ligaments in the inside of his foot and ankle C. He was in a great deal of pain throughout the examination.
