Assemble a Dedicated Team Write a critical analysis on how the global team was put together. Vijay Govindarajan and Chris Trimble have identified the factors that are essential in making of a successful team. In the case study, “Assemble a dedicated team: seven common traps to avoid when building an innovation team” , they have identified the key mistakes, responsible for the failure of a successful team. In the case study of the New York Times, they identified how a successful team is created in an established company and what factors could change the success to failure. In 1995, the New York Times company created a dedicated team for building and designing the internet site. But three years later, the team was not doing any innovation. They slipped into the organizational memory phenomenon and acted like a performance engine as they were managing their own affairs (operations, marketing, sales). The mistake identified in the case is that the dedicated team was structured the same way as the performance engine.
