Week 1 Discussion 1 – Mass Communication Introduction to Mass Communication Instructor Melissa Landin In which area of your daily life do mass communication and other forms of communication overlap? Mass communication often overlaps in my daily life when I rely on multiple media to receive a single message meant for the masses. Typically alerts on weather, crime, entertainment, and politics. The area of my life in which mass communication is most overlapped is in my work. As an entertainment blogger most times I am writing reviews about places I’ve traveled to or restaurants I’ve dined. After visiting these destinations, I end up receiving general (mass communication) from companies in multiple formats. I receive mobile alerts, emails via e-blasts, postcards, magazines, catalogs, and automated phone calls. If I’m not careful to check or uncheck a box, I may receive the same message, from the same company several times throughout the day.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
