AMERICAN ECONOMIC GROWTH: 1790-1860 2 American Economic Growth: 1790-1860 The time from 1790 to 1860 America witnessed the quickest growth in the economy that America has ever observed. There were numerous influences happening that caused the economic growth. America was finally free from Britain’s taxation without reputation which meant America could plan their individual economic development. This, consolidated with the developments in the areas of communications, transportation. Which helped start the industrial revolution and caused Americas yearning to go west and expand the economic growth. The basic pattern began in the 1790s, after the Constitution "established a strong central government with powers to forge a national economy.” (Misa, T. 2004).
