Lab 2 Rebecca Courchesne Amiee Wagner SCIE211-U4WW September 14, 2018 Five Basic Types of Graphs (D, 2012) Pie graph (circle) o Pie charts are used to show the parts of a whole. Within each section of the slice indicates percentage of data. The pie represents the whole and each part represents parts of the whole. Line o Line graphs are used to show the difference between two sets of data. They have an X and Y axis that shows on the grid. Where you have one set of data on axis and another set of data on the other axis. Also, they show changes of data over a time or to show trends. Bar o Bar charts represent data in bar form. On the graph you see the X and Y axis with two sets of data. It has a scale and labels to help people visually see what the bars are representing. Bars are arranged in order of most common to show the importance of the data. This graph is useful for comparing and organizing data. Line Plot o Line plots represent data by using a number line. They are used to observer, analysis, and study data. Line plots show multiple occurrences among data. It’s a simple and easy way to put data together. Stem and Leaf Plot o Stem and leaf plot data is organized from least to greatest. Where the digits from the least make up the leaf and the greatest make up the stem. This graphed is useful because it shows all the data values being represented.
