Yap 1Rizza Mae YapJuly 28, 2018/Unit 4ENG 102 - Composition IIDr. Patricia Jones-LewisVisual Analysis of Bud LightBudweiser is one of the most popular beer brands in America. Their advertisements andcommercials are known for being humorous and entertaining. Millions of people look forward toseeing their commercials. Budweiser takes advantage of its reputation and makes commercialsthat are witty and fun to watch. They incorporate humor and a certain kind of sex appeal intotheir ads to sell their beer and send the message that there is nothing more pleasing in life thandrinking Budweiser. In this essay, I will analyzean ad for Bud Light Beer. A copy of the ad was found inand was posted in a 2011 issue of Instinct Magazine, a gay men's lifestylemagazine. The ad displays two young, attractive males smiling in a sensual embrace. They are ina bar and one of them is holding a bottle of Bud Light Beer. Text in the top right corner says“Let’s head out. Be who you are. Drink what you like. And turn any time into a great time withthe just-right taste of Bud Light. It’s the sure sign of a good time. Here we go.” The bottom halfof the ad displays three ice-cold Bud Light Beer bottles. The intended audiences for this ad are gay men. The male subject’s body languageindicates that they are more than friends. They are standing close to each other, their faces almosttouching, and sharing a sensual smile. The advertiser’s choice of Instinct Magazine mostcertainly ensures that the intended audiences are gay men.
Yap 2The ad implies that it is okay to be gay and that if you consume Bud Light Beer you aregoing to have a good time. The first line says “Let’s head out”, may be interpreted in two ways.
