Olivia Mata Number 2 During the third and fourth week in class, there was a connection between  “Discovering the Rio Grande Valley” and “El Movimiento Campesino”. From  “Discovering the Rio Grande Valley” the article states “The Mexican is very easy to get  along with, and is not as treacherous and barbarous as many of our Northern friends think and even ‘has no social aspirations, and [is] perfectly contented to be your servants".  (Brannstrom and Newman) The way the Anglos spoke about Mexicans is very disturbing  to me.  They described my ancestors as if they were objects with no emotions, like a  robot.  The Rio Grande Valley was filled with Mexicans and the Anglos took advantage  of that. It also states in the article, "We have thousands of Mexicans here who are glad to  work for you”. I believe that Mexicans were nowhere near “glad” to work as basically a
