Lesson 1:-The 10 Ts: (Intro Video)1.Total:it is entirely organized, uses all media and means, it surrounds you with what you believe. 2.Time:in 2 ways, 1) timely - it has to be current + immediate 2) it is timeless - it has to be built on roots that come through traditions and history. Any message cannot go against this timelessness.3.Trust: refers to credibility, looking at leaders and prestige.4.Truth: depending upon circumstances propaganda can be based on fact, most isn’t but normally occurs in points of conflict, if your winning a war for example you could be quite factual. Most propaganda founded on misrepresentations. 5.Trigger: something there that you have been prepared for, when you see or hear a message you end up doing what is asked of you. Built up on pre-propaganda, when these are set forth things trigger you, as a conscious individual you respond. Propaganda is toxic because it goes against what it means to be a human being, it goes against dialogue, it is against trying to come to understandings with others, it short circuits you're thinking, because it makes you stop thinking for yourself. It’s a trigger that short circuits your thoughts. 6.Target:you need to have an audience and know them thoroughly, designs messages that your audience accepts.7.Threat: always takes place within some kind of conflict among uncertainty.8.Transformative:it transforms you into more of yourself, it doesn’t turn you into something new. When you act on propaganda you are becoming more ofwhat you think you should be, you become more tied to the system. 9.Touching: all propaganda speaks directly to you, not a large message system, when you are involved you feel directly spoken to. It provides some type of superficial sense of comfort. “Oh now i know what’s expected of me”.. 10.Task:it always involves an action, all effective propaganda must result in an action taking place. 11.cteriThe next 10 lessons (Lessons 3 to 12) of the course will each addressa specific characteristic of propaganda as symbolized by wordsbeginning with the letter “T”. All propaganda must be:1TOTAL: Lesson 3All propaganda isorganizedand requires the infrastructure and reach of an organization to design and implement its messages to an audience.
2TIME: Lesson 4All propaganda is dependent upon time: both for being timely, responding to issues as they occur (immediate), and for being timeless, rooting itself on known values and familiar traditions (historical).3TRUST: Lesson 5All propaganda has to be crediblefor it to be accepted.4TRUTH: Lesson 6All propaganda must somewhere be based on verifiablefact, otherwise it will defeat itself and not be believed.5TRIGGER/TOXIC:Lesson 7All propaganda destroys critical judgment and hence is destructive of reflection.
