Week 5 Template Check the correct method used in your article Quantitative Qualitative Identify the research problem The problem in this article as identified by the authors is that nursing comprises the largest healthcare workforce, and yet there is very little research examining nurses’ readiness for disaster (p. 281). The authors identified a gap in education for nurses to be prepared for natural disasters. Also, they identified the confidence level of nurses and likelihood of taking responsibility in a risk situation. It is believed that most nurses in the U.S. are unprepared to respond to and manage major disaster situations (p.282). Identify the research purpose This article is a descriptive analysis of rural nurses’ perceived readiness to manage disaster situations (p. 281). This research study was undertaken to describe the status of the nurse preparedness to manage disasters to help communities and healthcare systems strengthen their emergency response programs (p. 281).
