Introduction to Organisms Three-Domain Classification o Bacteria o Archaea o Eukarya (includes protests, plants, fungi, and animals) Prokaryotes: Archaea and Bacteria o Single-celled o No nucleus or organelles o Producers (organisms that can make organic molecules using some outside source), consumers, decomposers (autotrophs and heterotrophs) o Prokaryotes in bioremediation Organisms to remove pollutants (see pp) Eukaryotes o Eukarya (plants, fungi, animals, protests) o DNA is inside a nucleus o Most are larger and more complex than the prokaryotes
