Engels describes the setting below Ducie Bridge. Engels says that the entrance to the houses was only accesible by climbing the garbage, and that in Allen’s Court the sanitary police had to evacuate the area

Unformatted text preview: because there was Cholera growing. What I find interesting is that even today we hear of cases were people are evacuated from their own homes because of health concerns. Most of these cases also come out of the lower-class society. What is most shocking is that after this article was written there is still cases of this happening....
