2Sexuality and Elderly PeoplePopular Culture’s Perceptions of Sexuality and Elderly PeopleAbove is an advertisement from 2012 from an organization called Safer Sex for Seniors. The ad serves as a Public Service Announcement for seniors. It is a little more racy than what you might normally see but it is meant to get people’s attention since you will not typically see videos of people doing this, let alone elderly people who are typically viewed as non-sexual beings. This PSA is meant to raise awareness of sexually transmitted diseases in elderly people. The video shows elderly people, fully clothed imitating popular Kamasutra positions. At the end of the video the slogan for this PSA is “There are many ways to do it. There is only one way to do it safely. Use a condom.” (Safesex4seniors, 2012) After reading many of the comments and reading articles about this video, the majority ofpeople were offended. In an article from Daily Mail they state, “many believe the group, while promoting a worthy cause, has taken shock tactics too far.” Also in the article by Daily Mail, they
