2Legal Same-Sex MarriageSexual Tolerance: Legal Same-Sex MarriageLGBT rights have been a long standing topic of discussion especially in the topic of legalizing same-sex marriage. In 2014, there were 9 million member of the LGBT community. (Grossman, 2014) Much has happened in the fight for LGBT rights in the United States and immense progress has been made towards the tolerance for the LGBT community. Whether it be in law making, people’s attitudes, or in the church; times are absolutely changing but there is stilla ways to go before the United States as a whole is accepting of the LGBT community. There is a very profound timeline for LGBT right milestones that leads up to the historic day on June 26th2015 where the Supreme Court declares same sex legal in all 50 states. Starting in 1924, the first documented milestone is the Society For Human Right was founded in Chicagoby Henry Gerber. This organization was the first gay rights organization in the United States. Fast forward nearly 30 years to 1952 and 1953 where two major events happened: the American Psychiatric Association lists homosexuality as sociopathic personality disturbance in their diagnostic manual which is to later be removed in 1973 and President Eisenhower signed an executive order banning homosexuals from working for the federal government due to them being a “security risk”. Later in 1969, police raided the Stone Wall inn (a gay bar) which prompted riots and is believed to have kicked off the gay civil rights movement in the U.S. In
