Max Weber, a sociologist, economist, and philosopher, assumed an idealist stance for society (Little, Vyain, Scaramuzzo, Cody-Rydzewski, Griffiths, Strayer, Keirns, & McGivern, 2014). He also incorporated a religion aspect of being a Protestant in his theories regarding society and economics. He believed the key to progress is the disenchantment of the world; his example being the East being so much more advanced than the West but eventually the West modernizing first because of their rationalism and the East holding on to “magical” thinking (Little et al., 2014). This disenchantment would
