Gwen McGary Professor Branham CJL1062 12/12/20016 FINAL EXAMINATION Explain the primary purpose of the Constitution and identify the main rights we as US Citizens all share due to our Constitution. A: The primary purpose of the Constitution is to create a national government, which consists of a legislative, an executive, and judicial branch. It also divides power between the federal government and the states. And next it protects personal liberty of citizens from intrusion by the government. List and describe the four basic freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment in descending order of importance to you, and then explain why you rank them as you do. A: Freedom of Speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, and right to petition. Freedom of speech is important to me, because I’m a very open minded person and I believe anyone should be able to voice their opinion even though somethings are limited. Discuss the constitutionality of flag burning. (Present both constitutional arguments from opposing sides, including what the current legal status of this act is. A: August 22, 1984, Gregory Lee Johnson burned a flag at a protest in Dallas where he was arrested and later convicted of breaking the law. He was sentenced to one year in prison and had
