Water 1. rivers – alluvial 2. oceans – marine 3. lakes – lacustrine iii. ice – glacial iv. wind 1. sand-size – eolian 2. silt-size – loessal c. accumulated plant debris – organic 2. Colluvium – moved due to the influence of gravity a. Deposited by movement of materials from upslope due to gravity and, to a lesser degree, water b. Summit - the very top of a hill i. Where you find residual material c. Shoulder - where the hill starts to go down i. Where you find residual material d. Backslope - the strait part of the hill angled down i. Where you find colluvial material e. Foot slope - where the hill starts to level out i. Where you find colluvial material f. Thicker soils are found at the bottom or near the foot slope g. Thinner soils are found towards the summit of the hill 3. Alluvium – moved due to the influence of water
