Amanda Ammons September 24, 2018 Unit III Research Topic HLS-2301 9/11 has been viewed as the worst terror attack that the United States has suffered on home soil in the history of terror attacks. Religion and ideologies of terroristic groups seems to be the once issue that does not change with terrorism, but the methods at which they carry out these attacks has. However, before 9/11 the United States was not exempt from terror attacks. In 1995, Timothy McVeigh utilized a cargo truck and explosives to kill at least 168 people, injure more than 680 others, and destroyed one-third of the building. Until the terror attacks in September 2001, this was the worst case of demotic terrorism the U.S. had seen. It was the worst act of homegrown terrorism in the nation’s history. On April 19, 1995, the two-year anniversary of the disastrous end to the Waco siege, McVeigh parked a Ryder rental truck loaded with a diesel-fuel-fertilizer bomb outside the Murrah Building and fled. Minutes later, the massive bomb exploded.
