Chapter 5.1 1. The difference between self-fertilization and cross-fertilization of plants is that the SF plant produces genetically identical offsprings and CF plants a genetically unique offspring. 2. Hybrid; an offspring that result from crossing two true-breeding varieties of the same species. Eg., tall-stemmed pea plants and short-stemmed pea plants 3. Homozygous; an organism with two (2) alleles inherited from parent that are alike Heterozygous; an organism with two (2) different alleles inherited from parent that are different 4. Genotype; genetic makeup or combination of alleles for an individual Phenotype; an individual’s expressed traits, including physical appearance 5. The allele that determines the trait that shows up in a heterozygous individual is the dominant allele; because of there must be two copies of the recessive allele for it to be expressed as a trait. 6. The purpose of a test cross is to reveal whether an organism that displays the dominant phenotype is homozygous or heterozygous.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
