Todd Burrick and Mike Goman.Also present:Assistant Superintendent Erin Murray, Assistant Superintendent Sue Homrok-Lemke, Business Manager Burke LaClair, Director of Personnel Neil Sullivan, Student Representative Zeke Hodkin and Recording Secretary Katie Wilde.PUBLIC AUDIENCENoneBOARD AND ADMINISTRATIVE COMMUNICATIONSZeke Hodkin reported on activities at SHS such as PSAT administration, the National Merit Scholarship breakfast for the 5 semifinalists, and the One Act Festival. He also reported on activities at HJMS and at some of the elementary schools.Ms. Tedone noted that the CABE/CAPSS Convention is November 18 & 19, with the Delegate Assembly on November 17. Ms. Salina reported on the Curriculum Committee meeting, stating that they discussed the review of the elementary math program. She noted that the Elementary Math Program Adoption Committee will hold their first meeting this week.Ms. Lemke stated that Dr. Cecilia Singh, Professor at Yale University Child Study Center of Medicine, will be presenting on trauma and the impact on students for special education teachers during their professional development session tomorrow. She stated that Community for Care will hold their next presentation on November 15th. The topic is suicide prevention, and the presenter is Simsbury resident Tom Steen, Executive Director of Capital Area Substance Abuse Council (CASAC).Mr. Sullivan reported that negotiations are continuing with the SEA and SSASA unions. SSASA mediation is scheduled tomorrow and SEA mediation next week. Mr.LaClair reported that he attended a meeting at the state relative to the HJMS school renovation project.Ms. Murray discussed the math review meeting that will take place during professional development tomorrow. She reviewed the professional development sessions that are scheduled on November 8th: Elementary level teachers will receive professional development on responsive classroom and secondary teachers will attend the annual Technology Conference that Joncia Lytwynec puts together. Ms. Murray noted that over a dozen Simsbury teachers participated in a Twitter chat last week discussing “creating joy within the academic environment”. She stated that art teacher Laurel Archambault has a picture of her sculpture printed in a children’s book; and music teacher Colleen Thompson will present at the CMEA professional Public AudienceCommunications
