Margarita Hernandez SOC-002-L05 Abortion “As long as people have been having sex, there have been women having abortions.” Laws regarding abortion have changed over the years. It seems as if the foremost question is if a woman has the right to end a pregnancy. Abortion was first banned in the 19 th century. Early abortions also were the leading cause of death among women, due to the lack of cleanliness, and methods of the people performing the abortions causing infections that lead to death. In 1973 Roe v. Wade was decided and changed history for women and abortions. It allowed women to have a choice. Now in 2018 with a new Supreme Court Justice appointee this decision may be overturned. Cultural values tell you that abortion is murder because you are killing a living being, and if you had sex and get pregnant that is your consequence for not doing it safely. For the woman that was raped, that is not the case. If a woman that was raped had the child it may look like her rapist and that would be a lifelong hardship for her.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
