Spring 2018 Legal Advice Instructions
1.
You are required to provide written legal advice to the client who seeks advice from your
law firm in relation to the issues set out in the Legal Advice Problem Question found in the
Subject Documents folder in UTS Online.
2.
The advice is to be given on mock letterhead of the firm in which you worked during
tutorials this semester. (You can create your own letterhead however please note that extra
marks are not awarded for letterhead design.) See

3.
The advice must be clearly written and set out:
a.
Relevant facts,
b.
Relevant law together with authorities (include the full case reference and
appropriate citation in authorised reports, including pinpoint references, ie page
references, to the page on which the principle is discussed). For the purposes of the
assessment task, citations may be put in footnotes,
c.
The result of the application of the law to the facts,
d.
