Newton’s third law of motion, “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction” combined with The Bernoulli Effect, creates a difference in pressure which causes “lift”. In the case of airplanes, the angle of the wing, called the airfoil, causes the air above the wing to curve and forces this air to move faster than the air below the airfoil. The faster the air moves above the airfoil, the lower its pressure becomes. Because the air below the wing moves slower, there is more pressure. The airflow above curves downward over the airfoil and then wraps underneath. The reaction of the curving airflow against the greater pressure of the slower airflow at the bottom equals lift and pushes the airfoil up as the plane moves forward.
