Eric Robert Rudolph is a domestic terrorist. He is responsible for at least 4 terrorist bombings. Most notable is the Olympic Park Bombing during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, GA. On July 27, 1996 Eric Rudolph detonated an improvised explosive device in Centennial Park killing one person and injuring 111 others [Eri15]. Eric Rudolph made the device using smokeless powder and pipes [Eri15]. His stated goal was to embarrass the United States in front of the world during the Olympics [Eri15]. He also planned to detonate other devices the following days, but stopped his plan after the first detonation. Soon after the Olympic Park bombing, Eric Rudolph went into hiding. While in hiding he devised new plans. His stated purpose was to use force to combat abortions [Eri]. Rudolph believed that the US Government had lost its moral authority and legitimacy when it legalized abortion. On January 16, 1997 Eric Rudolph targeted the Northside Family Planning abortion clinic in Sandy Springs, GA [Eri15]. The first device was devised to get everyone's attention.
