Abstract At Strathmore University, transport management is done manually –this ranges from transport requisition by staff or students which entails filling in a form and submitting it to the main receptionist or the admin offices in phase one. For one to know which vehicle has been reserved to, he/she has to contact the admin office to know which transport has been booked for him/her. No one has the assurance that in the day of traveling he/she will get to travel since the form may get lost. Sometimes an employee or student may forget to submit the form and the only time to submit this form is between the university opening and closing hours. Also driver scheduling is done based on the transport request form submitted a day before the university staff or students travels and this sometimes brings confusion or rejected when the form is submitted late. Vehicle management such as maintenance and refuelling is done by the University administration based on what and when the driver reports the problems. This project aims to develop a web-based solution for Transport Management at Strathmore University. The proposed system will help to save time when requesting for the Transportation. The filling of the request form will be done online and this will also be effective and efficient since those in phase two and three will not be forced to walk all the way to phase one to submit the request form. This system will be able to be used at home when one forgets to fill the form within the University operation time. We felt that this project is worth doing as it currently doesn’t exist. The system methodology to be used is Rapid prototyping because of the time factor and the continuous improvement based on the user requirements and feedbacks. In this model experience are continual design-evaluation cycle that continues throughout the life of the project. The model is used as various changes can be made even as the system is still at use. The system will be developed on a XAMPP local server before migrated to the web server, the programming languages to be used are PHP, Bootstrap, Ajax, JavaScript, HTML and CSS. The database management system to use will be MySQL and the database administration tool is Php MyAdmin. Sublime Text is the preferred text editor.
