2GREAT BOOK ETHNOGRAPHYGreat Book Ethnography The place I visited was Port City Community Church in Wilmington, North Carolina. Thegreat book is crucial to the Christian faith and it can be used to be read from, guide teachings andused to study for the sake of a person’s relationship with God. Many of the people at this church carried their great book with them and had their own at the service. The religious affiliation this church identifies with is Christian and it is non-denominational. The service I visited was a Sunday morning worship service, and the great book that I observed in the service and discussed in my interview was the Bible. Composition HistoryChristianity developed from Judaism and it studies the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christians would describe themselves as monotheists, and followers of Jesus Christ and his teachings. The people of this church who identify as Christians recognizeJesus as the Messiah or Savior that was promised in the Hebrew Bible. Christians believe that Jesus’ death atoned for human sins, meaning that because of his death, he would forgive them of their sins. Christians also believe that there is life after death.
