Madelyn Schmidt Professor Bobbi Masters Theatre 1020 February 22, 2018 Script Response of Arcadia by Tom Stoppard 1. Before seeing the show, the thing that I am most excited about is seeing how the writing of this play effects how the play is performed. Seeing how Thomas Stoppard pulls the past and the present together on one stage will be quite interesting to witness. I am also quite excited to witness the humor of the play and to see a tortoise! For this show, I am expecting to hear a lot about sex and science. I am also expecting this play to be somewhat difficult for me to understand since half the play is written in Old English and the performers will have English accents. I am hoping that during the present-day scenes of the play, I will be able to catch up and pull together what was going on in the scenes set in the 1800’s. 2. After I attended Arcadia, I was taken aback by how much this performance exceeded my expectations. Since it is so long, worry began to set in that I might become bored and uninterested by the end of the play. I soon realized that these worries would not become a
