Kevonte Kilby 1. Reflection is the rebounding of visible light or other electromagnetic radiation off a smooth surface. Refraction is the bending of light rays when they pass from transparent medium to another. Reflection helps create telescopes by gathering light and reflecting the light rays from concave mirrors to a focal point. These steps resolve the image and magnify light to observe the skies. Refracting telescopes gather light then bend the light rays as they pass through a glass lens which helps resolve the image to see the night skies. 2. An everyday example of reflecting would be a mirror reflecting the image of yourself back to you. An everyday example of refracting would be what you see when you wear glasses 4. Some advantages of a reflecting mirror over a refracting mirror include the advantages of not having the issue of building with glass impurities, dealing with chromatic aberration, and the structural difficulties that make it really expensive to build large lenses for a refracting mirror. 5. The three major functions of a telescope are to take in as much light as possible, resolve the image you are seeing, and to magnify the image. 6. The angular resolution of a telescope means the resolution of the object or the clarity of an object.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
