TO: Lori Anda, Director of University Recreation FROM: Boyd Sansone DATE: April 15, 2018 SUBJECT: Weight Room Renovation/Expansion Problems With the Current Weight Room The weight room in UW Stouts South campus is small for the 10,000-student school that we have. This is a problem that can be seen quite often in the weight room and seen daily. Fitness training and the ability to exercise has many benefits, especially to students in young adulthood. For example, exercise is very important as it can increase energy levels and positively effect sleep. This translates positively into a hard-working college student because of the additional energy produced in physical activity. Students will be able to focus for longer periods, spend more time in their studies, and be livelier in participation. Furthermore, students can be extremely busy with education including class time and outside work, their jobs, and down time that is needed when being so busy, it can be extremely difficult to gain an efficient workout when going to UW Stouts small and crowded gym. For the many students that enjoy lifting for fun or to reach fitness goals, this is deterred by the trouble of having a crowded weight room. It kills motivation for students to reach the goals they want or achieve enjoyment while at the weight room because of the cramped space and lack of ability to perform effective workouts. Besides the crowd, there is limited equipment to use in the weight room due the small floor size of the weight room as well. During the periods in which the weight room becomes overcrowded many students tend to wait for equipment, waste time, or simply leave because they do not have the time to wait for the equipment. The wasted time may affect other areas of student’s life or they may simply not go to the gym and reach their fitness goals they may want to achieve. UW-Stout needs to expand their weight room to allow more students to participate in exercising. The point of this is to encourage more students to exercise by incorporating more equipment and a larger area for physical activity. Having the extra room and equipment can be beneficial to a student so they can create more efficient workouts for their tightly cramped schedule. Overall, this improvement can be done by expanding the weight room in two different ways. The first being the more expensive way but being more efficient in the long term; and, the second being a short-term solution to get more room for students to exercise. The first resolution would be a remodel of the current weight room and neighboring basketball room a single court with only two basketball hoops that would combine the two rooms into one larger room to spread out and expand on equipment. The sophistication of the new set up would be equal to similar newly renovated gyms and would be an attraction to other students who are looking at universities, specifically UW-Stout, to go to. The second proposal would be to put all cardio

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
