Interesting change to the elections Changes into more of what modern day elections are like today Grover Cleveland is coming near the end of his presidency This was the time where the number of people voted was higher than ever before A new issue started to arise during this election’s time America was going through a recession Not the worse recession, but still bad o1896 – the recession is still going Why do we have a recession? Whose fault is it? How can we fix it? Gold was decided to be the one thing that can be used to back up money However, a small country might not have much gold The world of nations decided you can use gold and silver if you are a new small country and be somewhat part of the global market This was called the “Bi-Metal Standard” oGold standard Debate Countries at this level are known as the “big countries” and are successful in the global market Soon, America felt ready to reach the gold standard America was probably not ready but large corporations wanted to so that they can compete in the market globally Recession happened due to America wanting to be at the Gold Standard Republicans were blamed, and the decision was made to go back to the Bi-MetalStandard until the nation was ready However, it will be difficult to get back into the Gold Standard after
