Sex and Aging2Sex and elderly is something most people don’t think about when it comes to sex; however, sex is still a part of some people life until the day that they die. The comic above is a simple two slide comic that makes you question if elderly people still have sex multiple times a month. The message of the comic is simple, someone is asking an elderly couple about a survey about senior citizens having sex a few times a month. The response to the question is “that’s all”,meaning that the couple being questioned is having more sex a month than two-three times. The meaning is simple, with the comic portraying that elderly people are having a good amount of sex. However, I want to look deeper into it by looking at the physiological, psychological, and social aspects of sexual development, seeing if the comic was correct about sex while aging. The age range being considered in this paper is for those people who are aged 60 and above.
Sex and Aging3PhysiologicalOne of the most important things when it comes to sex, is how the person may view it. Aperson who is less open to talking about having sex, would most likely not talk about it if askedby a reporter like the comic. That leads to the question about the survey that is talked about inthe comic. The problem with the survey mentioned could be how many people were asked, howthe people in the survey was decided, and we're the people asking more open or less open whenit comes to talking about sex. A personal view of sex may change over their lifetime, any maynot be as open as before because they may have a lower body image because of aging. Thismeans that the survey does not include all the elderly, meaning that the people asked in the comiccould be having sex a greater amount than normal senior citizens.
