KINE 198 Notes Muscular fitness: o Muscle strength is the force or tension a muscle/group can exert against a resistance in one maximum effect o Muscle endurance is the ability or capacity of a muscle group to perform repeated contractions against a load, or to sustain a contradiction for an extended period of time Benefits: o improved muscle mass o improved posture o improved metabolism Effects: o acute muscle soreness o delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) Prevent DOMS: o Maintain program o Reduce eccentric components o Gradually increase intensity o Vitamin e Must do cardio and muscle to decrease areas Flexibility: range of motion of joint Influencing factors: gender, age, genetics, activity level, muscle core temperature, previous/current injury Benefits: perform daily activities normally Dynamic stretching – shoulder circles Static stretching – stretching just one area Ballistic stretching – bouncing stretching Hypokinetic Conditions:
