Macroeconomics ECON 2212 Gokce Uysal Spring 2017 Class hours Fridays 9:30 - 12:20 Location B401 Office Betam Office hours Tuesdays 13:30-15:20 and Fridays 13:30-15:20 E-mail [email protected] 1 Course description This course is an intermediate level macroeconomics course that covers topics such as the IS-LM model, the AS-AD model, the Phillips curve, growth, savings and capital accumulation as well as technological progress. Open economy models are also included. 2 Course objectives To provide the students with a solid understanding of macroeconomics and how market economies operate in the developed and in the developing countries, with a special focus on open economies. 3 Course materials The book that I will follow for this course is Macroeconomics, the 6th edition, by Olivier Blanchard and David R. Johnson. You are free to follow any intermediate level macroeconomics book. 4 Grading I strongly advise you to attend all classes even though you will not get extra credit for attendance. Evaluation will be based on a midterm (40%) and a final exam (60%).
