Lee Hartkorn Rel 210 8/10/18 Module 7 Argument Summary paper 7: Dominus Iesus and Rahner The Theological Investigations, by Karl Rahner describes the idea of anonymous Christians. He defines these Christians as people who do not profess the Christian faith and even goes as far as denying the existence of God but yet are still people who are justified by the grace of God. He does not think an anonymous relationship with God is simply given by the fact of being human. He states, “For the scriptures tell him expressly that God wants everyone to saved.” However, he also believes that there is no other salvation through any other god and that salvation only exists through Christ our savior. Rahner knows that his beliefs are a controversy internal to catholic theology. The anonymous Christian and anonymous Christianity are merely solutions for individuals who do not hear God’s word or know of God along with those that lived before the time of Jesus Christ.
