POLICY PROPOSAL AND INTERVIEW 2 Mental health, defined by the World Health Organization as “a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community” (World Health Organization, 2014), has become a major topic in today’s healthcare. Over 40 million American’s currently suffer from a mental health condition, making up 18% of the nation’s population (Mental Health America, 2018). On average, those suffering from a mental illness in America die 25 years younger than other Americans (Manderscheid, et al., 2009).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
