Running Head: Perceptions of sexuality and the elderly 1 Perceptions of sexuality and the elderly Joseph M. Davis American Military University CHFD220 Dr. RB
Perceptions of sexuality and the elderly I picked an image where an elderly couple is sitting in front of their doctor. The doctor says, “Sex is good” The elderly woman replies, “Define good” The elderly man replies, “Define sex”. We are tasked to answer two questions in this assignment. 1. What is the message of the popular media cartoon, or advertisement? 2.What examples of physiological, psychological, or social aspects of sexual development are conveyed? Explain.
As for the physiological aspect of sex and the elderly, I would say that it is good for you body. I stated in the previous paragraph that it is good for your mind. But it is also good for your body. Sex burns fat and calories. The act of sex also means the brain releases endorphins. Endorphins releases chemicals that help reduce anxiety and act as painkillers. Now with aging, things change. It may take longer to be come aroused or to achieve an orgasm. Also, there are more physical limitations. Such as lack of flexibility. Men can have trouble with erections and women can experience vaginal soreness and dryness. But lucky for all us, medicine has come a long way
