C3012Current Nursing PracticeNursing specialization and roles is one of the current nursing practice within my healthcare setting that requires change. Currently, the role of nurses in the healthcare sector has changed significantly as compared to the past. The nurses are expected to carry out research, process patient data and to keep up-to-date with the various technological advances. The nurses are also required to study for a nursing degree to be able to enter the nursing profession and qualify to be a registered nurse (Kemppainen, Tossavainen, &Turunen, 2013). In our health care, most of the nurses are assigned roles and responsibilities which they are not qualified to do and are not specialists in that particular sector which results in poor services being offered to the patient which in turn result in poor patient care. This has been attributed to the high number of patients in the healthcare and lack of enough nurses to serve the patients at different levels (Nardi, &Gyurko, 2013).Why the Current Nursing Practice needs to be ChangedThe reason as to why the nursing roles and specialists in our health care need to be changed is because there are a lot of challenges that the healthcare landscape is facing such an aging population, a rise in the level of patient demand and diminished staffing levels. This may result in poor patient care if the nursing roles are not well stipulated and divided as well as lack of professionalism. The need to change is also important since it will not only help in improving the quality of care offered to the patients but also reduce the medical cost of the patients which isa great concern for the patients due to the change in social as well as disease-type demographics resulting in the need for change urgently. The change is important since it will ensure that the nurses in a particular department have the right skills, knowledge, and attitudes around wellness
C3013and population care which will enable the nurses to have a renewed focus on care coordination, quality improvement, data analytics and care coordination (Sherwood & Zomorodi, 2014). Key stakeholders In the Current Nursing PracticeStakeholders can be affected as well as affect the actions, policies, and objectives of an organization. The main stakeholders to be involved while implementing change in the current nursing roles and specialists include the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Information Officer, Implementation manager, government agencies, clinician champion, medical leaders, and patients.Role of the Key StakeholdersThe Chief Executive Officer plays a significant role in supporting the proposed practice change since the CEO will help in providing support which includes financial support and vision while implementing the change. The success of the change process towards ensuring that the nurses perform roles and are given responsibilities which they are qualified for depends on the willingness of the CEO to make the transformation personal.
