Rogers 1 Jacob Rogers Mrs. Cluiss English 1301 8 June 2004 The Summer I Never Forgot It was more than four years ago when my life nearly took a turn for the worse. I was involved in an accident while foolishly participating in a pick-up game of baseball. I was playing my hardest and dove for the small white ball when a freak collision nearly left me with a fatal disease from poisons entering my body. It was 3:47 A.M. on a cloudy Terrell, Texas morning. I arose with nauseating pain in my torso area and recalled the events from the previous evening. I was playing a game of baseball and ended up colliding, with my friend Chase, which produced a football tackle on me. The only problem was that we were not playing football. We were playing baseball where you wear no pads and you do not normally run into the other players. I weighed maybe 100 lbs. and I thought the wind was knocked out of me. I was a tough kid and thought I would walk it off or rest awhile. After waking up the next morning I could barely move. I felt like I was giving childbirth. I then told myself it was a horrible nightmare that I would wake from any minute now. I limped into my parent’s room and yanked them out of the bed and in a stern voice I said, “Get up. We’re going to the hospital.” My dad nearly gave me whiplash while driving our maroon van like it was a formula one racing car, but we did arrive in a quick manner. We went
