INFLUENCE OF CULTURE ON CHILD DEVELOPMENTCULTURE HAS A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON A CHILD’S DEVELOPMENT. THE CULTURE OF A CHILD INFLUENCES THEFUTURE AND DEVELOPMENT OF A CHILD BECAUSE A CHILD’S CULTURE IS COMPRISED OF TRADITIONS THATEXTENDS ACROSS ALL ASPECTS OF THE CHILD’S LIFE FROM HOW THEY DRESS TO THE TYPES OF FOODS THAT THEYEAT (GROARK, MCCARTHY, & KIRK, 2014).CULTURE IS ALSO DEFINED AS THE FAMILY STRUCTURES SUCH AS HOW THE CHILD IS REARED, RELIGION,MARRIAGE, ECT AND IS THE SHARED BELIEFS, VALUES, NORMS, KNOWLEDGE, TRADITIONS, BEHAVIORS ANDPRACTICES OF A SIMILAR GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS (GROARK, MCCARTHY, & KIRK, 2014).IT IS THROUGH A CHILD’S CULTURE THAT THEY LEARN WHAT TEMPERAMENTS AND BEHAVIORS ARE ACCEPTABLEAND PREFERRED AND WHICH ONES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE AND DISCOURAGED.CHILDREN LEARN TO COMMUNICATE, AND UNDERSTAND THEIR WORLD BY MEANS OF THEIR CONTEXT, BEHAVIORS,BELIEFS, VALUES AND TRADITIONS OF THEIR CULTURE. THEIR CULTURE SHAPES HOW THEY PERCEIVE THEMSELVESAND WHAT THEY COME TO UNDERSTAND AS BEING IMPORTANT (SHARLEY, 2012).CULTURE SHAPES MORALITY. CHILDREN LEARN CERTAIN MORALS AND MORAL DIFFERENCES IN YOUNG CHILDREN.A CHILD’S LANGUAGE IS DEVELOPED BASED ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL CULTURE, CHILDREN ARE REARED USINGPARTICULAR PARENTING STYLES AND YOUNG CHILDREN DEVELOP AUTONOMY BASED ON THEIR INDIVIDUALCULTURES(SHARLEY, 2012).
INFLUENCE OF CULTURE ON PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT.CULTURE DETERMINES MANY POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE INFLUENCES, ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIORS THAT INFLUENCETHE LIFESTYLE CHOICES THAT CHILDREN MAKE.CHILDREN THAT RECEIVE EARLY INTERVENTIONS WHICH PROMOTES THE DEVELOPMENT OF GOOD HEALTH HABITSAND ATTITUDES MAY HELP PREVENT MANY OF THE NEGATIVE BEHAVIORS AND LIFESTYLE CHOICES THATCOMMENCE EARLY IN LIFE (TATAR, & MYERS, 2010).THE CHILD’S FAMILY BELIEFS ABOUT NUTRITION, EXERCISE, AND OTHER ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIORS THATPROMOTE HEALTH AND WELLNESS ARE DEEMED TO BE EFFECTIVE MEANS OF PROMOTING THE PHYSICALDEVE;OPMENT OF A CHILD (TATAR, & MYERS, 2010).A CHILD WELL BEING IS PROMOTED THROUGH THE USE OFPROPER GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT PROVIDED IN THECONTEXT OF THE CHILD’S NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. CHILDREN LEARN TO ADHERE TO PRACTICES THAT PROMOTETHEIR PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL CONTEXTS AND EXPERIENCES (TATAR, & MYERS,2010).A CHILD’S PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT IS INFLUENCED BY SEVERAL EVIDENCED BASED MODES THAT APPEAR WITHINTHEIR CULTURAL CONTEXT WHICH INCLUDES; THE LOCAL CONTEXT WHICH IS THEIR FAMILY, NEIGHBORHOOD ANDCOMMUNITY, THEIR INSTITUTIONAL CONTEXT SUCH AS EDUCATION, RELIGION AND GOVERNMENT, GLOBAL WHICHIS COMPRISED OF WORLD EVENTS SUCH AS CULTURE, MEDIA INFLUENCES ECT AND THEIR CHRONOMETRICALCONTEXT WHICH IS COMPRISED OF POSITIVITY, PURPOSE, AND PERPETUAL INFLUENCES (TATAR, & MYERS, 2010).
