To Kill a Mockingbird : Vocabulary Part II Independent Study Quiz Grade Due when we finish the novel (date to be determined) Directions: You are required to select 20 words for study from Part II of To Kill a Mockingbird . (Chapters 12-31) You will select and look up the words on your own and record the definition. Choose the definition carefully and make sure it defines the word as it is used in the novel. *do not guess or make up your own definitions. You may ask to show your source if the definition is questionable. You must choose challenging words. If you choose simple words that are below 8 th grade level, you will be told to re-do with more challenging words. See me if you are unsure or need help finding words. Remember some words in the novel are not real words. If they cannot be found in the dictionary, don’t use them. When we are finished the novel, you will select and teach one of your words to the class.
